10 DC Designers to Look For In 2012
10 DC Designers to Look For In 2012 [Written by Guest Blogger: @FashionCitizen | Checkout his Blog www.fashioncitizen.com ]
1.) Shop ALS is a jewelry line based in the DMV and Alex’s bracelets are among my favorite accessories to wear. The bracelets are made from high quality materials coupled with unique designs. Alex seems to come up with colorways and concepts like its nothing but I know she’s very studied about what she does. You can find Alex’s pieces at shopals.etsy.com.
2.) The Gold Diggers is a DC based clothing line that encompasses pretty much everything a fashionista or fashionisto would need. They’ve got lingerie, jewelry and handbags for the ladies and shirts, vests, jewelry and outerwear for the gents. The Gold Diggers is a brand I’m excited to see develop, organic style always wins. Find them at www.thegold-diggers.com
3.) Superior Worx is urban wear on another level. I’m a personal fan of the brand because their pieces work for a day at the office, word to their new varsity jacket or you can wear their newly released gym hoodie to run around the city on the weekend. Superior Worx also has some heat in store for their Spring/Summer campaign and this fashion blogger says you’d want to stay tuned. Superior Worx can be found at shop.sobdc.com
4.) Newly Renovated is a Christian based brand out of DC that has a very boho vibe to it. I got on to the brand after connecting with the designer via Twitter and I must say I’m impressed with his professionalism and aesthetic. His custom denim vests are definitely something to look out for in 2012, check the brand at www.theNRlife.com
5.) Zarii Designs is another jewelry brand based in the DMV and innovative doesn’t begin to describe their pieces. The woman who’s confident and self assured is the Zarii Design customer with pieces like their plum croc embossed circlet earrings or their leather ribbon earrings. Add some punch to your accessories with Zarii Designs at zariidesigns.com.
6.) Renee Cabaçtnoh is an up and coming designer in the DMV area that ladies and gents definitely need to be aware of. Brian Patterson, the designer behind the brand, has one of the most unique design aesthetics that I’ve ever seen. Its rock star chic meets futuristic design topped off with urban sensibility. Check Brian and Renee Cabaçtnoh out on Twitter at @reneecabactnoh
7.) Sundiata Xclusive is another favorite brand of mine and it’s my go to for basic pieces with urban flavor. Suni, the head designer, puts out simplistic pieces with great quality and unique details. Sundiata Xclusive is that brand that has your future favorite hoodie. Contact Suni on Twitter at @Suni_SX
8.) Smoking Haute: Designer, Christina Floriza, runs accessory brand Smoking Haute and the scarves she produces are not only warm but they’re stylish. One of the unique things about the brand is that the pieces are named after DC areas like the U Street Cowl or the Adams Morgan scarf. These luxury pieces are statement worthy and would most definitely be at home on the neck of DC’s trendsetters. Smoking Haute scarves can be found at smokinghaute.etsy.com.
9.) Borgata DC: One of the newer brands I’ve become aware of is Borgata DC and in 2012, keeping an eye on this brand is highly recommended. I was drawn to Borgata DC because of their pocket tee, a simple idea but one that Borgata DC took and made their own. The pocket tee has pocket designs ranging from paisley to cheetah and they’re perfect for layering over a thermal long sleeve shirt for chilly DC days. Borgata DC is at www.borgatadc.com
10.) #BBB: New kid on the block, Ble$$ed Beyond Belief or BBB is fast approaching cult status. With the simple but easily adopted tag line of “Ble$$ed Beyond Belief”, the crew necks that the brand has debuted with are being bought by rappers and everyday people alike. Positivity is the modus operandi of this brand and I’m interested to see what they’ll do next. Check them out at weareBBB.com.
